Our Veterinarian

Dr. Glen Campbell - Dr. Glen Campbell is a graduate of Texas A&M and LSU Veterinary School...he runs a vet hospital in Garland, taking a day off on Tuesdays to do our surgeries...he was named by D Magazine as one of the 'Best Vets In Dallas'...immediately after Hurricane Katrina, he volunteered for 5 days in New Orleans doing rescue and emergency surgeries...HE IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF OUR WHOLE ORGANIZATION.

Our Volunteers

More than two dozen volunteers are regulars who work at the clinic each Tuesday doing everything from weighing animals and taking their temperatures to giving vaccinations, administering anesthesia, and perparing surgery packs.  Volunteers also walk the dogs, clean the cages, do laundry, gather supplies, and organize administrative aspects of the clinic.

Our Technicians

Janice Hunt - Janice is a retired manager from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and has been with Friends since before the clinic opened.  She is one of our two vet technicians and her duties include: sedating each animal, assisting the prep and surgery tables, giving shots, monitoring animals in recovery, cleaning poop and expressing anal glands (much to the chagrin of the entire surgery team).

Leslie Kelly - Leslie is a part-time Sales Rep in the retail market and also works with Dr. Campbell at his clinic in Garland.  Leslie and Janice sedate the animals, then prep, see them through surgery and oversee them in recovery. Leslie moved to the lake area in June of 2000 from Dallas and was thrilled to hear of FOA back in 2002 because of the obvious need in this area. She looks forward to many years of working at FOA - it's a way to help to stop the overpopulation of unwanted animals in our community.

Our Director

Sydney Busch, Clinic Director - Sydney Busch was a volunteer for 18 years at the SPCA of Texas in Dallas and served on their board.  She and her husband Ed (who also served on the SPCA board as President for two terms) saw the need when they moved to Cedar Creek Lake full time and worked to raise funds and recruit volunteers.  On July 30 of 2002, they opened Friends of the Animals Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Our Assistant

Joy Simmons - an energetic, tireless volunteer for years for Friends of the Animals, is one of the paid assistants - she checks in the animals in the morning and enters all the data in the computer after each surgery.

Debbie Maxwell Starr - takes messages and schedules appointments all week
